How much does it cost for eBook conversion into Kindle and ePub formats?

Standard novels, short stories and chapter books start as low as $200. Cost is based on page count, number of images and formatting complexity. We can give you an exact estimate once we review a PDF or digital version of your book.

Books with formatting complexities such as non-fiction titles, poetry books, screenplays and other titles containing content such as tables, lists, footnotes, symbols, links, foreign language and other unique formatting complexities are charged at $2.00 per page. The minimum charge for any of these types of titles is $200 regardless of the number of pages or level of complexity. We can also scan hard copy books and create digital files from the scanned text at additional cost.

Examples of books with formatting complexities include but are not limited to the following: standard non-fiction titles, magazines, cookbooks, textbooks, yearbooks, manuals, technical/medical books, educational titles, dictionaries, etc.

Children’s Picture Books

Children’s picture books with images and overlaid text are more complex to convert and require an additional cost to be converted into Kindle and ePub formats. We can also convert your picture books into “fixed-layout” ePub files that can be sold in Apple’s iBooks application. As previously mentioned, we can give you an exact estimate once we review a PDF or digital version of your book.

Interactive/Enhanced Books

We can also add engaging and interactive features to the digital version of your book such as audio, video, internal/external hyperlinks, and embedded PDFs. For an enhanced interactive experience, we can convert or create any book or magazine to include all of the above and also include animation, sound effects, games and more. We'll be happy to provide a free estimate for your project.

 

What is the process and how do I get started?

Converting files from PDF or Word is usually the easiest method but we can also convert from other source formats like InDesign and Quark. We usually prefer to have all source files available for images, text, tables, etc.

1. The first step in the process is to send us a PDF or digital version of your book for us to review. If the file is larger than 15MB or you have a large number of files, call us at 210-320-0548 or email us at ebooks@rainingpopcorn.com and we'll provide you with access to easily and securely upload your files to our server.

2. Once we receive your files, we will contact you with a free estimate for converting your book. We can also enhance your book or help you create a book from concept to finish using our other services such as writing, editing, design, illustration, production and language translation.

3. After the quote is approved, your project will be added to the production schedule. Normal turnaround is approximately two to three weeks. When the conversion is complete, we will send the eBook files to you for review. We require a 50% deposit to begin the project and upon completion and approval of your book, the balance is due. Payments can be made by check, money order, paypal, Visa or Mastercard.
